The Vienna Opera Ball (Wiener Opernball), THE highlight of Austrian society…oh the dresses…sigh…the glamour….
The entire WALTZ-I-NESS of it all!
This beautiful gala- hosted at the Vienna State Opera on the Thursday preceding Ash Wednesday- is the capstone of the Viennese carnival season.
Premiering in 1936, but suspended during World War II, the Vienna Opera Ball has been annually held (with 1991 as an exception due to the Persian Gulf War).
The Vienna Opera Ball Chairwoman is Elisabeth Gürtler…a true socialite, bien sur!
Now where’s my tiara…?!?
